A scrap dealer from Abossey Okai has been put before court
for stealing mobile phones and cash in the sum of GHË200.00.
Adams Takiimah who was sent to the Police station for
stealing compounded his woes, as substance suspected to be narcotic drugs was
also retrieved from his pocket.
Unfortunately for him, his accomplice, has bolted whilst he
faces charges of unlawful entry, stealing and possession of narcotic drugs.
Takiimah has pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled
against him before the court presided over by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh.
He has since been remanded to reappear on April 11.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, said the complainants
Saho Jonas and Lucas Addo are cousins and living in the same room at Abossey
Okai Happy Days Accra whilst the accused persons Adams Takiimah is a scrap
dealer and one Janlo now at large also lives in the same area.
He told the court that, on March 26, 2017 at about 2:30am,
accused persons unlawfully entered into the complainants bedroom whilst they
were asleep and succeeded in stealing three mobile phones and cash in the sum
of GHC200.00 but the witness
woke up from their sleep and shouted.
According to him, the accused persons took to their heels
but were given a hot chase and A1 was arrested with two mobile and brought to
Kaneshie Police station.
At the office a search was conducted on him revealed a wrap
of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drug in his pocket and mentioned the
second accused persons as the owner of the substance.
In his cautioned
statement, he denied the offences and stated that it was the second accused
person who gave them to him for safe keeping but could not assist Police to
arrest the said person for questioning.
Chief Inspector Adu said, after investigation he was charged
with the offences.
