Washing bay laborer remanded for robbery
A casual labourer at a washing bay has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly conspiring to rob a businessman at Dome at gun point.
The accused person, Mohammed Sualley, and his other accomplices currently at large attacked one Isaac Amankwah, and the process his sustained gunshots.
Meanwhile the complainant is currently on admission receiving medical attention.
Sualley when arraigned pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and robbery levelled against him in the court presided over by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh.
The court therefore remanded him, into Police custody to reappear on March 14.
Prosecuting, Superintendent Kwaku Bempah, said the complainant is Seth Amankwah is a businessman residing at West Dome whereas the accused person is a casual laborer at a car washing bay at Donsoman and resides at Dome Crossing.
On February 10, 2017 at about 1:45am the complainant and his family were asleep when they heard their dog barking which made him woke up and came out to see what was happening. He saw the accused person squatting behind one of the windows so he dropped a stone and made the suspect pointed a gun at the complainant.
According the prosecutor said the complainant quickly ran back to his room but the suspect climbed the roof and pursued the complainant so in an attempt to lock the door, he shot his right arm, rushed in and instructed him to surrender all his money. Out of  fear he led the suspect to his Kia Bongo van and released an amount of GHË25,00.00 to him.
The suspect who is currently at large was wearing mask after taking the fired four rounds into the air and jumped over a fenced well into an adjoining house but the gunshots and shoutings from the complainant’s house alerted the neighbours and they came out.
The accused person was seen some few metres away from the complainant’s house and arrested. A search on him revealed a pair of scissors and cigarette lighters. He was then handed over to the police and in his cautioned statement denied being an accomplice to the suspect who was in the mask and attacked the complainant.
Meanwhile the complainant is still on an admission at the 37 Military Hospitals responding to treatment.
