Driver remanded for defilement

A driver has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl in her mother’s room at Teshie, Accra.
William Kwasi Okyere who is the accused person pleaded not guilty to the offence of defilement of female under sixteen (16) when arraigned on Thursday morning.
The court presided over by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded him into a lawful custody to reappear on April 11.
Prosecuting Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire, said the complainant Albertina Amarh is the biological mother of the victim aged 14 years. The accused person William Jessica Okyere, who lives in the same vicinity, is a friend to the complainant(mother).
According to him, on March 19,2017, in the absence of the complainant(mother) the accused person went to her house and asked the victim to cook porridge for him. After the accused person had finished eating the porridge he dragged the victim from the kitchen into the complainant’s hall and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The Prosecutor said, she informed the complainant(mother) and a report was made to the Police where a medical form was issued to her to send the victim to hospital for examination, treatment and report.
After submitting the report, the accused was arrested and after investigations he was charged with the offence and arraigned.
